The teaching of biblical truth from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective is the primary objective of this course. Biblical studies are central to Adventist truth. For our school it is therefore not just another subject, but the central subject of the curriculum. The course aims to help students understand the nature of Christian religious faith, including Adventist faith, and aims to develop students’ own faith and lifestyle in a meaningful relationship with God.
The Year 9 course explores the nature of God and how this was manifested in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It then goes on to look at the gifts this loving God has chosen to bestow upon humankind as a result of His desire to have a relationship with us.
The Year 10 course explores how God can be seen throughout history, how He will be revealed in the future according to Bible prophecy, and how He is seen today through an individual’s life and in their world.
The course seeks to apply a broad framework of outcomes in its approach to studying the Bible. Therefore its outcomes are arranged in four strands:
In Year 9, students complete two major tasks per semester along with a reflection statement showing understanding on a given topic.
In Year 10, students undertake a number of tasks including a newsletter, film and test in Semester 1 and two tasks, including an essay, in Semester 2.
