Avondale School has a proud music tradition, dating back to its origins on the grounds of Avondale University.
Music has long been part of the Avondale School story, and we are proud to continue this tradition to our students as part of their school journey.
There are a variety of musical activities that take place during the school year that students are invited to be a part of.
Bread and Jam Lunchtime Concerts
On the last Wednesday lunchtime of each term, up to thirty students from Years 1-6 participate in an outdoor lunchtime concert in the primary courtyard. Students, teachers, friends and family come to eat and watch our developing musicians perform. Students sing or play instruments such as the piano, violin, drums, guitar and other brass and woodwind instruments.
Avondale Strummers
This free club is open to students from Year 2-6 who wish to learn the ukulele, or who already play the guitar with some skills under their belt. While his club is focussed on teaching basic ukulele skills, it also provides an opportunity for all students who love to strum to participate in group playing. The group runs on Friday mornings between 7:30 - 8:30.
Primary Choir
Come and sing with joy and enthusiasm! Students in Years 3-6 are invited to participate in this free ensemble on a Tuesday morning from 8:30 - 9:15 each week. The Primary Choir will perform at local churches and community events throughout the year, including the annual Christmas Carols in Cooranbong.
Worship Bands
Students in both primary (Years 5 and 6) and high school are invited to participate in worship bands that lead the music in chapel. Students who love to sing, play keyboard, guitars or drums are encouraged to join.
