Year 2 had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a special visit from the Sunnyside Museum, where Megan, Zoe, and Sam shared fascinating insights about Aboriginal artefacts. The visit allowed us to reflect on Australia’s rich history and the traditional way of life of the First Nations people.
Through these artefacts, we were able to gain a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture, appreciating the stories they tell and the lessons they hold. These items offer a glimpse into the past, helping us to preserve and celebrate the history of First Nations people.
As part of this hands-on learning experience, Year 2 students had the unique chance to examine and even hold a variety of Aboriginal and wartime artefacts. Some of the students’ favourite items included a possum bag, a fossil, a spear and shield, a coolamon, and even a war helmet and grenade.
