This term Year 2 have been learning about the history of people and places in our local community. On Friday they went on an excursion to the beautiful campus of Avondale University and visited many interesting historical sites. Students learnt that it was originally called Avondale School for Christian Workers and started in 1897 with 82 students. They did a science experiment to test the quality of the soil, pretended to be a nurse and bandaged each other, and worked together as a team to build a shelter. Avondale School started on this site and moved to our current location in 1985. The students finished off their exciting morning with a visit to the wobbly and jiggly Swing Bridge!
