Year 11 Geography students recently embarked on an exciting overnight field trip to Nelson Bay, where they had the opportunity to study Earth's natural systems in a hands-on environment. Geography is not just about learning in the classroom; it’s about experiencing the world around us, and this trip provided the perfect setting for practical learning. The students explored the dynamic sand dunes of Stockton Beach, with many expressing that "the camel ride was 100% worth it". The coastal landscapes offered a unique opportunity to study rock platforms, where the students were captivated by the diverse coastal environments. "Exploring the rockpool and coastal environments were cool", one student remarked, encapsulating the spirit of discovery that the trip inspired.A hike to the summit of Mt Tomaree, gave students a breathtaking view of the area and a deeper understanding of the natural systems at play. As one student aptly put it, "we are here to learn about Earth's natural systems", and this trip certainly achieved that, bringing their classroom studies to life in an unforgettable way, especially on the whale watching cruise! This field trip not only reinforced their knowledge but also ignited a passion for the subject, proving once again that learning outside the classroom is an invaluable aspect of Geography education.
