The Retreat at Crosslands Youth and Convention Centre provided an opportunity for the new Year 12 cohort to reconnect and refocus for the year that is ahead. The beautiful surroundings were enjoyed by students and staff alike, taking time to pause and appreciate the natural location.
We were grateful to have Dr Darren Morton from Avondale University come and share a session on managing stress (including sharing some ways in which stress can help us if we let it); it was full of great tips to help with the busy year ahead.
Pr Chappo and Pr AJ visited to spend time with the students, taking the time to brainstorm and begin planning the Year 12 Week of Worship coming up early in Term 1 next year.
Afternoons were filled with a variety of activities including kayaking, volleyball, swimming and a slime fight. There was lots of friendly competition with team games in the evenings, and some musical memories made with karaoke sounds ringing through the valley.
The final day of the Retreat saw the group pack up and clean in record time, and head to Treetops Adventure Park for some zip-lining fun. Some faced fears, others were focused on getting through the courses in record time, but everyone had fun! A tired but happy group of students returned to school on Friday afternoon.
