Bungonia National Park is described as "an outdoor adventure playground offering caving, canyoning, rock climbing, abseiling, hiking and impressive views. Bungonia National Park is known as the adventure capital of the Southern Tablelands: what at first appears to be a dry plateau quickly opens itself up to reveal a diverse and dynamic landscape filled with natural surprises…" Year 10 didn’t experience a dry plateau but an extremely wet one - for a week.
We made the best of our camping experience in the rain and we still had lots of fun trying to cook for ourselves, stay dry, pitch tents that were occasionally (often, always) saturated, experience caving and engage in team building games. We kept busy walking through the bush, avoiding kangaroos and wombats, be it during the night or day.
The notorious efflux was conquered by a small group who needed to ‘prove’ their tenacity, grit and resilience. How amazing that this legacy is a challenge for siblings who have been to ‘Fungonia’ over a number of years.
Thanks to everyone who turned this soggy adventure into an incredible experience. To the staff, students and outdoor recreation assistants from Avondale University College who made it an awesome and certainly memorable camp, you are all amazing
