Some moments in life are etched into our memories forever. When I was 19 years old, my mum received the life-changing gift of a donor kidney. As we waited anxiously for her surgery to begin, we were told the kidney had been harvested and was on its way from South Australia. A fatal car accident had made the generous donation possible. It was an incredibly sobering moment.
My family will always be deeply grateful to the unknown young man and his family who chose to give the gift of life through organ donation. Because of that one selfless act, my mum lived 14 healthy, joy-filled years. From the tragedy of death came the blessing of new life.
As we journey through the Easter season, I’m reminded of the profound hope found in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is not just a holiday—it is the cornerstone of our faith. It is a celebration of God’s unfailing love, His ultimate sacrifice, and the promise of new life for all who believe.
At Avondale School, we reflect on this message daily—in our classrooms, in chapel, and in the way we relate to one another. Just as the empty tomb marked a new beginning, Easter invites us all to embrace renewal—in our hearts, in our relationships, and in our walk with God.
As you reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice this Easter, I pray you are reminded of His unconditional love, the immense value He places on you, and the lengths He has gone to pursue your heart.
May this season inspire you to walk in faith, extend kindness, and live in the joy and hope of the resurrection. May His death bring you a deep sense of new life in Him.
Thank you for your support during the first term. We are grateful to have such a wonderful school community. We wish you all a restful, joyful break.
