In Mrs Nevell's Food Technology class, Ethan S and Daniel M became increasingly aware of the amount of green waste being thrown into the bin. They believed that there must be a better solution for the environment. Determined to make a change, the boys embarked on a mission to persuade teachers and administrators to consider an alternative approach, involving chickens to recycle the green waste. Overcoming numerous challenges, Ethan and Daniel tirelessly advocated for their idea.Their efforts paid off when Mrs Cooper, impressed by their passion, gave her approval. With the go-ahead, the boys turned to Mr Hosken's Design and Technology class to design a suitable chicken coop. Collaborating as a team, Ethan and Daniel combined their skills and knowledge to bring their chicken coop design to life. They were determined to make a positive impact on their school and the environment. After completing the Chicken Coop Project, the boys received an offer from Mr Sheedy in the Science department who had some fertile eggs in the incubator. The four chickens are now ready to be introduced to their new home. With great excitement, Ethan and Daniel welcomed the pullets into their chicken coop at the Avondale School Agriculture Areas.Ethan and Daniel's commitment and perseverance in bringing their idea to fruition are truly commendable. Their initiative will benefit students across various year groups, and their passion project holds much promise for the future. The Head of Technologies, Mr Hosken, is proud to witness the progress and development of this inspiring endeavour.
