Last week the school’s Orchestra embarked on our first music tour in 6 years. We started small, squeezing in 7 performances in just over 3 days in the country towns of Gunnedah and Coonabarabran. We mostly visited primary schools, who had some really interesting questions for our group. Due to taking much-needed rain with us out to the Warrumbungles, the clouds prevented us from a telescope viewing of the stars. Donna the Astronomer shared a presentation on Mars instead. We debuted our new music uniform polo shirts – pretty stylish if we do say so ourselves! Our veteran music tour adults showed us the ropes. Thanks to Shavaunne (truck driver) and Tim (bus driver) for keeping us and our gear safe. Thanks to Fraser (counsellor) and Mrs Page for sharing their experiences with the students through our worships. No so fond memories: loading the truck in the rain, and walking to the Gunnedah pool at 6am for hot showers.Fond memories: finally being able to perform again, finding an epic playground, learning each other’s instruments, seeing ex-Avondale teachers Mrs Murphy (English) and Miss Murphy (Music), water slides in the cold, playing games, much singing, primary students barking very loudly for “Who Let the Dogs Out” in Shrek Dance Party, and designated snack times – who doesn’t love a good snack!
