The day started with patches of blue sky, but unfortunately it didn’t last. However, the heavy showers didn’t last very long and the weather progressively improved. Quedos to the 12-year-olds who bravely stepped up to the line and ran in the downpour. We expected to have lots of students away because of the weather forecast but we were pleasantly surprised.
Due to the very wet centre of the grounds, we were unable to do our discus events, however shot put was able to go ahead (a shot put was actually lost in the mud because it sank so deep!). An extra round of applause to those teachers who braved the mud. The run up to the high jump was a big puddle that, with a bit of hard labour, was able to be squeegeed away and dried out enough to get a few age groups completed. A big thank you to the students who came to compete, parents who came to cheer and teachers who made the events happen.
