Last week 8 students and 2 teachers were part of a team of 34 riders who participated in Ride4Rescue. This is a charity bike ride from Canberra to Mt Kosciusko to raise funds for the ADRA Blossom Project in Vanuatu and Restore One. The ADRA Blossom Project educates to prevent domestic violence and teenage pregnancies. Restore One is the school in Cambodia that our Year 12 students fundraise for and travel to for their annual Service Trip. Just over $60,000 was raised for the two charities. Thank you to all who supported this fundraising endeavour.
For Nathan S, Mahalia P and Jett P it was their first time and they showed determination and perseverance, especially pushing up the long hills and getting back on the bike after a spill. The route was mainly off-road through beautiful alpine wilderness countryside. Jai L, Ashton J, Matthew G, Rhys M and Charlotte B appreciated the sunny weather, in contrast to their previous trips where they rode in rain and cold wind.
The team summitted Mt Kosciusko after 5 days of riding. Ms Chester and Mrs Pascoe faced and conquered new challenges driving 4WD support vehicles. A profusion of wildflowers was an awesome contrast to the stark burnt snow gums in the Mt Selwyn area, which was ravaged by bushfires 3 years ago.
