“Respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides our manners.” Laurence Sterne
Respect is an essential virtue that we believe should be instilled in every individual regardless of age or background. At Avondale School, we strive to nurture an environment that upholds respect as a core value because it builds a harmonious and thriving community.
Our Christian community is called to love and respect their neighbours as themselves (Mark 12:31). We are committed to teaching respect by encouraging our students to treat everyone fairly, with dignity and understanding, including those who may hold different beliefs or opinions. By instilling this value in all of our students, we can create a community of kindness, empathy, and love.
Each student that attends our school should feel valued and that they belong. Our aim is to be inclusive in all aspects of our program, whether it be experiences in formal class time, excursions, camps, sporting and wellbeing programs, or even if it is merely friends hanging out in the playground. “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12 (NLT)
