As we reflect on the events of the past few weeks in the lives of our students, we acknowledge our Year 12 students who are approaching a significant milestone, and we continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they sit their HSC exams.
It was an incredible privilege to be invited to join the Year 6 Canberra trip last week and to get to know them a little better before their transition to the Secondary Campus in 2024. The camp was action-packed and filled with a wide array of activities. When speaking with some of the Year 6 students, their highlights included visits to the award-winning War Memorial, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the charming tiny village of Cockington Green Gardens. However, the day spent on the alpine mountains stood out in particular. The students were especially fortunate to experience some remaining snow, creating a truly memorable experience.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the Year 6 Canberra trip was the opportunity to get to know our students outside the confines of the classroom. It's wonderful to witness their zest for life as they discover and embrace rich moments that extend beyond the traditional classroom boundaries. This unique experience has forged deeper connections that will undoubtedly benefit their transition to the Secondary Campus.
As we prepare to welcome the Year 7 class of 2024, we were encouraged to see a sense of camaraderie between the class groups. Undoubtedly, the transition from being the leaders of the Primary Campus, where you know it all, to starting anew on the Secondary Campus, can be daunting for some. However, it can also be seen as a fresh opportunity. Starting a new chapter in life means you have a clean canvas to create the best version of yourself. This week, I also had the honour of leading a transition experience with the boys, where they were reminded that life is not a solo journey. There is much to learn from the wisdom of those who have gone before.
As we welcome the Year 6 students into the Secondary Campus next year and bid farewell to our current Year 12 students, please remember that each one of them is fearfully and wonderfully made. We look forward to witnessing the mark they will leave in their new spaces. They are loved beyond measure and are made for more than they could ever imagine.
While 'Life is a race' is a common comparison, it's more like a marathon than a sprint. Understanding this is crucial to maintain faith and perseverance. With proper preparation, we can keep going and encourage others, even when it's tough, even if we must walk or jog for a bit. In conclusion, let's reflect on how to finish well, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7).
Each one of us is uniquely equipped to reach the finish line, surrounded by high fives and cheers. Embrace the opportunities, enjoy the moments, and know that you are supported as you take the next steps into a future filled with purpose.
