On Monday PROPEL students took part in a team activity to complete a range of challenges and tasks around the Lake Macquarie area. The students worked as a team to solve clues, navigate to locations using only landmarks and printed maps, collected a set of items and carried out challenges. They took turns being the group leader, leaning on the strengths of each team member to get to each checkpoint and solve the clues. Students have spent time reflecting on the challenge and have used it as a thought starter for the new PBL unit of work, Texts and Human Experiences. Being able to draw on personal experiences, achieve something together as a team and then reflect on the shared experience, has laid a foundation for a deeper dive into the prescribed text for this English Studies module. Along with learning some new skills, we also had some encounters with local wildlife and were able to explore some of the unknown places in our local area.
