I love the assurance that we find in Jeremiah 29 that God’s thoughts and plans are for our welfare and not for harm. The other key part of this passage is what to do in the waiting, figuring out these good plans and seeking Him with all we have.
For the last few weeks, I have been working through a book authored by Simon Sinek called Find Your Why. Sinek challenges one’s thinking by simply understanding exactly why we do what we do. Sinek’s view relates more to a corporal perspective and inspiring those around you. Through his teachings, I have come to understand that uncovering our 'why' is not merely about career success or personal fulfilment, but about aligning oneself with purpose woven into the fabric of our being. It's about recognising that God's plans for us are rooted in goodness and hope, guiding us towards a life of significance and impact of self-discovery, reminding us of the profound truth echoed in Jeremiah 29:11. Each of us is intricately designed with a unique purpose and calling. Just as God assures His people in Jeremiah, Sinek encourages us to trust in the plans designed for our welfare and future.
This reassurance resonates deeply with me, offering comfort in times of uncertainty, offering inspiration to pursue our purpose with conviction – with all our hearts. Moreover, Sinek's emphasis on the importance of clarity and authenticity in defining our 'why' mirrors the biblical call to seek God's guidance and walk in His ways. Just as Jeremiah urges us to trust in the Lord's plans, Sinek encourages us to lean into our innate strengths and passions, knowing that they are gifts from a loving Creator.
As I reflect on the profound wisdom found in both Sinek's book and the pages of the Bible, I am reminded of the power of purpose in shaping our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us that what defines us in the journey is guided by a purpose far greater than ourselves – a purpose that unfolds as we seek to align our actions with God's will and live out our 'why'.
