What an honour and privilege it has been to step into the role of Learning and Innovation at Avondale School. This is a new role and an exciting opportunity for Avondale to enhance its continuity of learning, beginning at the Early Learning Centre right through to our graduate students. As I now get to collaborate and communicate with students and teachers across the whole school, I’m encouraged and excited by the learning opportunities now and in the future.
Between NAPLAN and Year 10 Minimum Standards tests I have had the opportunity to visit classrooms, chat with teachers, heads of departments and, most importantly, chat with students. I am proud of our students across the whole school and I thank you for entrusting them into our care.
I am about to visit and support the Year 8 Drama where English teachers and the Drama teacher have collaborated for the benefit of the students. The calibre of the art being created in our Arts Department is truly amazing, the projects within Industrial Technology are impressive, and the skills learnt across subjects and year levels provides such a strong foundation for future growth and development.
Planning is underway for an exciting pathway beginning in Year 11 next year where there is a greater focus on the individual and providing greater opportunities for our students. More information will be shared shortly about this new and exciting pathway.
We have opportunities. We have an exciting future. We have a great school. At the centre of these opportunities, future and school are students. They are central to everything we do and why we exist, and I look forward to a continued focus on student learning and providing the greatest opportunities for them.
