Year 12 Chemistry students attended a HSC Experiment Day hosted by Avondale University last Thursday August 18. Students completed four separate analyses: forensic identification of a white powder, a synthesis and biological assay, using a UV-vis instrument and a mobile phone colourimeter and finally an AAS analysis.
Our students shared the day with students from Hills Adventist College. Mr Vogel said, "The experience of using high cost analytical equipment and experts, and combining analysis techniques was not only interesting but very valuable in preparation for the upcoming HSC Chemistry Examination in October". Special thanks to Avondale University, and Drs Gemma Christian and Sarah Norman, for providing this day free of charge for our students.
