From a young age I can always remember loving passionfruit, sunflowers and the colour yellow, not necessarily in that order or together but all of them brought me joy for different reasons.
Do you have a favourite flower? Is there a reason that flower is your favourite? What is your favourite colour? How does that colour make you feel? What would you say your favourite food is? Does the food bring positive memories from the past or do you just love how it tastes? Do you have a favourite style of music, movie genre, TV show, type of novel to read? We all have particular activities, foods, colours, people etc that bring us joy in our lives.
With all the uncertainty that we have faced over the last couple of years it is easy to get bogged down in tough situations and forget about the things that create happiness in our lives. We create over 2.5 quintillion bytes of data each day and send over 270 billion emails daily. Along with all the social media posts and other variables that eat into our time, there is definitely room for each of us to stop and focus on the good things rather than being caught up in all the busyness. Sometimes we think if we just wait for a particular event or milestone to occur that life will be better and we will be happier. You may have heard the saying, “Let your joy be in your journey - not in some distant goal.” Tim Cook
God does not want us to be dragged down by the mundane, busy, unproductive and stressful aspects of life. He wants us to have a life of abundance, one that brings us joy and where we can then share joy with others.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. Ephesians 3:20
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Enjoy the challenge of finding something tangible that your family can intentionally do to ensure you create a peace-filled, joyful home life. Sometimes we need that little nudge to reset and make the most of a situation.
Continue to try and find the ‘joy in your journey and not feel like you have to wait till you reach the destination’.
