I once worked with someone who used the phrase, ‘Leave it with me'. And he meant it! If he committed to doing something, experience taught me that I could have full confidence in him and know that he would follow through. I no longer needed to worry about or plan for that thing. There is security in knowing that we can trust those around us; security in knowing that the people in our lives are true to their word and can be relied on to do what they say.
The Bible tells us that God is faithful to His people. In Hebrews we read that God can be trusted, and that our trust in an unchangeable God is an anchor for our lives. God is true to His word and fulfills His promises.
As we work to develop young people of character, our greatest hope is that they learn to build their lives on the stability of a faithful God. We also aspire to teach our young people that in a changeable and unreliable world, they can be anchors for those around them by being trustworthy, reliable and faithful.
How would those around you rate your trustworthiness?
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. Hebrews 6:18-19
