Some of my favourite childhood memories are family holidays at my grandparents' house in Inverell. Aunties, uncles and cousins would all be there. All the adults would sleep in the house, and all the kids slept in a caravan in the backyard. I have memories of riding motorbikes and exploring in the bush, water-skiing days at Copeton Dam, picking stone fruit from my grandparents' trees, eating the best ever tomatoes and cucumbers from my grandfather’s garden, and my grandmother trying to teach all the grandkids to knit! My grandparents’ place was my happy place. But as I reflect back, it was not so much about the place, but the people. These family holidays were those precious times when we would all disconnect from the busyness of everyday life, and spend quality time together.
It's the special people in our lives, and the relationships we have, that matter most. As we head into the school holiday break, may you take time to disconnect from the everyday, and to connect with those you love. Create memories with your kids and family that will last a lifetime. Build and strengthen relationships. Have fun together, laugh together. Slow the pace of life for a little while and enjoy time together.
We pray for God’s blessings on all of our school families over this holiday break, and we look forward to more exciting adventures with you all next term.
