Over the weekend, I drove my son home to get changed from school and back again for him to go to the teen program on Friday night. Then on Saturday, my wife woke up to take him to a teen church program. On Sunday, he had his Grand Final AFL game, so we drove out to Warners Bay in the rain to watch his team involved in the crucible of a mud challenge. I know as you read these words, you're nodding your heads, agreeing to the wonderful reality of parenting. I often reflect on how my parents were able to do the same things, but on only one income, one car, with one phone connected to the wall in the house.
It is the delight of being the uber service for our children, but instead of pay, we receive our reward in our children being active, learning skills and forming friendships. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old they will not depart from it.” Although life can be busy, it is a precious moment in our relationship with our children as they experience life and form healthy relationships.
Enjoy being the uber driver, the pay is worth it!
