Adventist National Games (ANG)

Oct 20, 2023

September 29 through to October 2 saw students from around Australia converge on the Avondale University campus for a weekend of worship, friendship and basketball. More than 160 staff and students participated in the ANG weekend with teams from Avondale School (NNSW), Central Coast Adventist School (NNSW), Edinburgh College (VIC), Nunawading Christian College (VIC), Hilliard Christian School (TAS), North West Christian School (TAS), Tweed Valley Adventist College (NNSW) and Wahroonga Adventist School (Greater Sydney). The weekend started with worship together on the Friday evening and followed on with church together Sabbath morning. Lawson Walters was the keynote speaker and he shared the impact that a relationship with Jesus can have in our lives today and for eternity. The games began on Saturday night (there were food trucks too) and continued all day Sunday. Grand finals were held Monday morning. It was great to see the students worshipping together and interacting on and off the court throughout the weekend.Avondale School entered 5 teams into the ANG tournament and we are proud of each of our athletes as they ran hard and represented Avondale well on and off the court. Our U17 Boys brought home gold and our Avondale Arrows (Open Girls division) were voted the ANG Unity Cup by the teams in their division. An expanded ANG event with more sports is already being planned for 2024.
