Secondary Kitchen Assistant

Kitchen Assistant Position
Part Time 18 hours per week 

Avondale School is seeking a suitably experienced and enthusiastic person to provide a high standard of support to the Secondary Hospitality and Food Technology teachers. The position would be permanent part time, working 18 hours per week during school terms. Stand down periods apply over the school holiday/non term time.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Model and nurture an active relationship with Jesus and have a knowledge of and commitment to supporting the ethos and mission of Avondale School.
  • Possess excellent people skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all school stakeholders, and work as part of a cohesive team.
  • Demonstrate an eye for detail and accurate record keeping skills.
  • Have experience in food-related roles and a high level of hygiene and food safety knowledge.
  • Have the ability to calculate and order ingredients and ensure all ingredients are prepared in time for cooking classes.
  • Store and rotate stock weekly in the kitchens.
  • Work independently to prepare equipment for classes and ensure supplies are available.
  • Have a willingness to support teachers in the classroom as required and to take responsibility for cleaning the room after use.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of WHS requirements and is aware of risks and hazards in food related activities.
  • Hold current a current WWCC clearance.

The successful applicant will be provided with access to the Staff Handbook that sets out the expectations and requirements of employment at the school.
